The Real Living Space

So a few weeks ago, this exciting thing happened! The Real Living Space that me and other six designers styled/ designed for Trion Towers was finally out to the public! It was fun because aside from the fact that I was able to work with these other great designers (which I'm very very honored to part of, *thank you*), the event lasted for a couple of days more with seminars, talks, and DIY's for home-design enthusiasts :) And doing the assignments felt like we were in some sort of reality "design challenge" show, topping it off with interviews, event toasting, and so much more.

What is the Real Living Space? You can read about the details here. Meanwhile, I'm going to share a little bit about the room I styled as you scroll down this post :)

The Assigment:
Each designers were given a client profile and room to design/ style and since this is just a mock up of a current model unit of Trion Towers, we were not allowed to drill nor paint anything on the walls.

I was assigned to style a bedroom for this client:
Married couple, 30 to 35
Working, upwardly mobile, has a combined monthly income of P120,000 to P250,000
They describe their style as "casual, but modern"
Laidback, they prefer to stay home in the evenings to cook, read, and watch TV They go out to eat or on out-of-town trips on weekends

BEFORE
Earthy and neutral.

AFTER
Since my pseudo client describes their style as "casual yet modern", I spruced it up a bit by placing modern and classic furniture, and played with prints. I also imagined the couple to be in their early years of marriage and the fact that they love going out-of-trips together - I made it more romantic by hanging book pages as a chandelier, added greens/flowers, placed a trunk to hide their trinkets from travels, and just played around with textures. I have to say, this can also be my own bedroom. Comfy, casual, and classy :)

Photog's Booth turned Industrial

so last weekend my styling team and I designed, styled and fabricated a wedding photographer's booth (Kenneth Uy) for the Themes & Motifs Wedding Expo at SMX.

Our peg was this:

We wanted to create a Rugged Pop Art concept, since we're trying to veer away from Shabby Chic (which personally, would be soo much fun and easy to make!) since the photographer we're styling is a guy. The idea was crazy! Pop art printed Louis chair, ombre painted walls, bulb chandelier, and floor-lighted brick wall. BUT we also had to make revisions at the last minute since we're trying to make the cost as LOW as possible, and I started doubting whether the pop-art printed Louis chair would still match the corrugated, metal shell (which would be cheaper than the brick, ombre painted wall) and vintage chests I sourced from a friend.

So with limited time (and energy, I just came back from a long hiatus somewhere :) the output turned out to be...

THIS

which I'm still happy with and thinks the effort paid off :)

 and YES.

I'm overly obsessed with exposed bulbs, reclaimed wood, random frames, rustic finishes, letters, and wire meshes! and I would keep using them in my projects til I have exhausted them in any way that I imagined them to be! haha OA.

anyway, here's like the only photo I had with one of my team member and makeup artist friend Elaine Ching, with wedding photographer Kenneth Uy.

Real Living August 2012

One of the best surprises I got this month was seeing a photo of a set I styled together with the RL team for this month's Decor Ideas section - How to use Decals as Wall Accents - IN THE COVER. Honestly, I didn't expect it! :) so imagine how psyched I was when I realized the cover photo looked really really familiar - "hey, i think we shot this?! Did we?"

So anyway, I hope you guys get a copy of this issue (yeah, i'm always delayed in telling people that lol) but you could still buy it from Zinio app for the soft copy just in case :)

Classy in Colors

Source: Veranda Magazine Jan-Feb 2012

Wouldn't your heart skip a beat if you came across great hallways, high ceilings, western contemporary houses donned in colors, patterns, and textures? Well mine did after seeing these! :)
Not mellow in butter yellow. Loving the brightness and patterns from floorto chandelier.
Blue on blue :)
Patterns galore :)
Aaah... I could totally live in this house forever!

 sigh. Ohwell.

I should work now! Lol

while i initially wanted to sync my ipad w/ my mac - which took forever btw, i got stuck browsing & posting once again! :) but its good, saving more mood boards never been better!
i think the letter trend is here to stay! i just love the mix of classic furniture and contemporary accessories here :)
who knew graphical/ skeletal structures can be sexy? :) monochromatic and styling at its best!
ive forever been looking & staring at furry throws - which i can't afford btw, but look how it could always make a room so cozy and warm *sigh*
