Projects Progress. the RestoBar

so i have been working on this project for quite some time now, and construction will start as soon as the holiday has finished :)

Reality is, you can squeeze your brain out every time you have to design for something but you also have to consider the (1) Budget (2) Market (3) Period of Lease (4) Maximum Capacity (5) Kitchen Space (6) Food/Drinks that will be served etc. etc. so restraining one's self should be observed.

Initially, we had to go Modern + Minimalist since the idea was to mix Asian + Western (Burgers +Milk Tea + Beer at night) so I had this in mind...

Moodboard: White Brick walls, Cement finish, Oak Wood, Tom Dixon inspired drop lights, and suspended bulbs...

And another option with the flooring and walls...

And here was the Layout...
I was already excited with the execution of the design, but after some thoughts the partners decided to skip with the "Milk Tea" and go straight with "Burgers + Bar + Beer". So I have to revise everything again (STRESS- was already done with the elevations, rcp, and shop drawings, but ohwell :)

and this is what we have agreed upon to :)
Some items were retained, but the furniture went from Modern to Masculine. Also the ambiance got a little rustic and old-feel. While the suspended light accents MUST stay :)
Then Option 2 without the divider between the bar and booth seat :)
I'm already excited with the outcome of this project :)  But after meeting with the contractors and clients again, we have to expect some changes... cost-wise. But anyway, I hope its nothing major, and I hope it would still look great with the revisions of materials and some layouts they were suggesting. But as always, whatever the client says, stays.

but for now, i have to enjoy the Holiday and will keep you posted :)

Happy New Year Everyone :)

random

if i could take a time off (let's say, a month or two) i would really really want to (1) design furniture pieces (2) finish all the rooms in my house - not to mention, my niece's princess room, which she has been asking me for weeks now - maybe she got the idea that "i do make houses" (coming from her 4yrs of age) since she always sees me drawing for the past 2 and half years (3) do an office makeover - so i could reorganize my thoughts better.

in the meantime, this is where i left off my parent's room (which i haven't touched for 4 months now)...
painted the walls green, changed the bed.
retro vibe.

i'm really praying that my upcoming projects will turn out good *prays hard*... too much coffee in my system is making me the most nervous/worried person you could ever meet! while my sister always tell me, i should take everything into experience and practice... i should really learn how to CHILL :)

anyway, have a blessed sunday everyone! i'm making the most out of this rainy weather to just sleep and do nothing! :) rest day!

Places: Ocean Bliss Spa

so i mentioned about the Mediterranean-Chic SPA my cousin & sister - which she designed herself too - put up mid this year, named Ocean Bliss Spa. It's located in our hometown, Santiago City, Isabela... (too bad I don't get to enjoy it here in Manila!  i only get my pampering whenever I go home to visit :)
the Lobby.
yeah, that's my niece, we're inseparable every time i'm home :)
the Massage Hallway.
inspired by Santorini, notice the wood-slatted ceiling, arched doors, and rustic wall finishes.
seashells by the seashore.
DIY corkboard for announcements, etc.
Foot Spa area.
with our reupholstered French loveseat :)

merry purple christmas

so my cousin did a pretty good job finishing the tree i started :)
we exchanged emails along the way, and was happy with the end result
(cos she was on panic mode doing it alone/installing those Christmas lights lol)

bedtime eye-candy

the problem with being an insomniac is that you're suddenly used to sleeping during the morning, and think that 2am is still early for bedtime.

my case now.

and as usual, i surf the web for inspirations... :)

and as posted in my previous  posts, i'm currently obsessed with mid-century + industrial + chic look. i don't know, but for some reason they look sooo appealing to me right now :) (or maybe because everyone is so into shabby chic/french provincial lately, that i'm a little over them after applying it in my own bedroom). mmm... i don't know
anyway :)
mid-century designer/collector's items :)

twigs, tin can, crystals and mirror balls.

soo many things happening this week...

so,....
i decided to leave all things behind and start working on my cousin's Christmas tree :)
and no, i'm NOT obsessed with Christmas trees (as seen in my previous post), nor it is my favorite thing to do in the world... actually, i NEVER decorated one in my entire life! (0.0) (well that happens when you live alone - you have this 4' tree your maid "styled" because the Grand tree is at the family home). so going back, my cousin asked me a favor weeks ago to do something for their SPA (which i'll be posting once i visited the place again - it's sooo Meditteranean-Shabby-Chic!). and i kinda figured to use something un-traditional for a change, hence, this:
i'm just starting...  but already loving it :)

The Christmas Tree Project

Dusit Thani Manila's Christmas Family Tree
What for you is Christmas?

It may be the gifts wrapped in fancy papers and ribbons or children’s carols. For some, it is the meal shared on Christmas Eve no matter how simple or festive it may be.

Here at Dusit Thani Manila, we believe that it is the spirit of giving. And we think that the best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each others’ arms.

And so, this year, Dusit Thani Manila gathers families from different walks of life and invites them to enthuse others by sharing values and traditions their families have been accustomed to. More so, provide an avenue where children of the next generation will be inspired to be a channel of blessings to mankind.

Through this project dubbed as Family Tree, join us as we endeavor to give this season a new and deeper meaning.

The hotel also invites all in-house and dining guests as well as Facebook fans to cast their votes for "liking" the best Christmas Tree, where cash prizes will be donated to the top three winning entries’ chosen charity. Voting is from November 15 to December 25, 2011.

so please, vote for the Llamas Tree:
(which me and my former classmate - yes, we're graduates now! - had been cooking for the past few weeks now :)

with Aivan Magno and the Llamas' :)

and since i'm a lazy blogger, you could read more about the event at Aivan's blog (and yes, i stole some of his pictures too), here: http://aivanmagno.blogspot.com/2011/11/fashionably-late.html

this apartment! is love!

why every time i'm working i stumble upon nice interiors that catches my fancy...??? i don't know.
(sigh, this studio apartment is soo dreamy)
and its not helping me at all finish my work! haha
anyhow, if you have read my previous posts, you would realize that i'm (currently) a sucker for
industrial + chic + mid-century interiors.

and if i could decorate my room again (ugh i wish) i would use:
raw cement walls and/or peeled-off white bricks
exposed wirings
wooden ceiling
retain the chandelier
okay, a build-up letter "P"
and mid-century furniture pieces

oh but yeah, i'll just stare at this for now and dream...
its so chica i love it!
loving the textures and quirky accessories <3
toys! toys! toys!
on the other note, this week's pretty busy-brilliant!
will post what's been happening soon <3
