before and after: pvc lounge chair

since we couldn't afford to have any new furniture made, and with the limited amount of time allotted for us to finish our construction, we opted to borrow/get any existing thing on display, hoping it fits/match our concept.

...and thank God i found this!
just by looking at the frame, i know it has great potential! plus, its BIG enough to occupy the space on the corner we had on our floor plan! *relieved* it just needs some revision...

(1) powder coat to white, so it can be used outdoors as well as match the material (plastic pvc)
(2) weave it with pvc plastics, to match with our design theme (read about it here)
again, couldn't be any happier! :)
this is sooo comfy to the highest level! i would want to bring this home myself! :)

Design Seminars: Condo Living

from DRAWING to REALITY

birth of the Onion Chair

The main inspiration for our chair was actually Kenneth Cobonpue's Yoda chair (below), because aside from the fact that it blends with our whole Nature-concept (read about the exhibit here), it literally looks like grass popping out of the ground. coolness!
Sketching
we took a lot of time figuring out what we really wanted for our furniture. this was actually sketched in NCTEX 2 hours before looking for potential suppliers... and after talking to many, thank God we found one that doesn't require us to pay a fortune, and was confident to assure us it would finish production in less than three weeks!
The Framing
i wasn't really sure how the chair would look like (that time), cos i find the framing too large at a 60cm diameter. so i placed it in front of a table and thought, hey, it doesn't look that bad... and remembered the reason we did a 60cm is because its not ONLY meant as a dining chair, but as an accent lounge chair as well :)
with rattan weaving...
painted in citron color...
Finished Product... say hi to our Onion Chair :)
i'm really happy with the result! *beams* it was for me, a MAKE or BREAK piece in our booth cos i had no idea it would look this nice :) (considering the limited time of designing and production :) and if you happen to drop by the exhibit, or is interested with this chair, we're actually selling it :)

Inspiration. Class & Comfort

before getting excited to design for a client, one must always consider the client's profile & personality. and sometimes, it can be really mind-boggling/confusing when they want us to handle everything, "you decide, we trust you", (which of course might be flattering, but with all the ideas one could think of, it could also result to roadkill!) so every time that happens, i always have the tendency to design the area like its "my own"... daydreaming, designing much, if i might say :) mixing personalities together :)

so today, remembering what someone has told me, "light, fun, and airy, something we could relax to" also considering their almost-senior year of age, i go back to neutral palettes... combining comfort and elegance, with a little touch of modern :)

Places: Subspace

so i found the perfect place to work & study in this cool, little coffee shop i've been reading in my friend's blog for some time now, somewhere in Ortigas, called Subspace :)
cos i thought i needed an actual Industrial feel to get myself immersed with the project... which i'm crossing my fingers (so tightly), i don't know, if it doesn't, then it'll be an added learning for myself.
from what i've heard, the designer of this place is also an interior designer slash store owner :) and i really love the furniture pieces he have... especially the ceiling treatment :)
and if you're a kpop fan, you'd actually love this place :) cos aside from the visual yummy-ness of kpop artists in posters/magazines, they're actually playing kpop songs! (yay, for me :)
cute, quirky accessories :)
and i actually forced my friends to go see me (even if its out of the way) cos i somewhat feel like i've been a loner for the past few hours (as always) lol
xoxo
