Photog's Booth turned Industrial

so last weekend my styling team and I designed, styled and fabricated a wedding photographer's booth (Kenneth Uy) for the Themes & Motifs Wedding Expo at SMX.

Our peg was this:

We wanted to create a Rugged Pop Art concept, since we're trying to veer away from Shabby Chic (which personally, would be soo much fun and easy to make!) since the photographer we're styling is a guy. The idea was crazy! Pop art printed Louis chair, ombre painted walls, bulb chandelier, and floor-lighted brick wall. BUT we also had to make revisions at the last minute since we're trying to make the cost as LOW as possible, and I started doubting whether the pop-art printed Louis chair would still match the corrugated, metal shell (which would be cheaper than the brick, ombre painted wall) and vintage chests I sourced from a friend.

So with limited time (and energy, I just came back from a long hiatus somewhere :) the output turned out to be...

THIS

which I'm still happy with and thinks the effort paid off :)

 and YES.

I'm overly obsessed with exposed bulbs, reclaimed wood, random frames, rustic finishes, letters, and wire meshes! and I would keep using them in my projects til I have exhausted them in any way that I imagined them to be! haha OA.

anyway, here's like the only photo I had with one of my team member and makeup artist friend Elaine Ching, with wedding photographer Kenneth Uy.

hunger games themed party

so last weekend we decided to turn my sister's simple dinner party into a Hunger Games themed birthday :) no, we're not die-hard fans of the said book series, its just that the whole theme is so inspiring to set up :)

the supposedly poison berries as one of our desserts

some print outs i found online :)
another rustic, dessert creation by my dear pastry-chef friend made for the event - flourless chocolate cake with fresh strawberries :)

table setting and loot bags

Inspiration. Industrial

today i'm vowed to research and review on Industrial, hi-tech interiors :)
its one of my top three favorites in design trends :)
like the opened ceiling treatment
 mosaic walls
industrial chandelier
concrete walls

concrete luxe :)

Places: Theodore's

i find it really great that there are more and more boutique hotels here in our country, not to mention - Tagaytay - which i think is the most convenient getaway (spot) since its only two hours away from Manila. and for some reason, boutique hotels always gives me a lot of inspiration (probably cos its less too formal and more personal than a regular hotel), makes me feel like i'm staying over a rich relative haha cos its homey at the same time :)

for now, my favorite would be Theodore Hotel :) situated beside The Boutique Inn.

upon entry, its hard not to notice this life-size metal horse! but i love this horse! its such a piece of art! i want to take it home with me! (there goes my horse addiction again :)

these unconventional chandelier/lighting fixture somewhat adds more character to the eclectic hotel.
 for upholstery inspiration :)
 dining area
my second favorite piece in the hotel, the giant ming chair :)
witty wall murals :) loving the lamps as well :)
i just took a picture of this cos i'm bitter lol. i really wanted to put bird murals in my bedroom wall, but i haven't installed even a single one til now :(
 stenciling drama on furniture :)
 i'm inspired :)
i always take pictures of decorative walls :)

sorry for the dimly photos though... i was more excited to go around than actually take pictures that time :) xoxo

Press Day for Exhibit

can finally sit down and relaaaaax... for a while :)
construction's done!
whew. can you imagine us cleaning and hauling for the past 48 hours with only four hours of sleep?
like, literally sweeping/wiping the floor, carrying furniture, glass, tables, flower arrangement, anything! like zombies!
and this is me sitting in our lounge chair (hoping i don't look that all sweaty :)

from manual perspective, to reality :)

wait for it... :)

Flea market finds

some items i scored for only Php500 (USD11.30) in total :)

yes, some luck i had from being stuck in the heavy rain... i was caught standing for more than 40minutes (inside a small tent along the street who sells wooden carved items) because my car's parked in the other block!
the weather was crazy! but i can't be more than happy with the good deal :)

1. the deer
this is so cute! i'm planning to paint this and use it as a lamp stand :) ala J. Adler style :)

2. the horse
if you knew me personally, you'll know that i have this horse (sculpture) fetish... :) been wanting to have one of those since one of my trips in China, but it was too expensive! i'm realllly happy to get this at a bargain!

3. the tray
this tray is perfect on its own. i want to use this as a tray table :) and/or probably place a mirror inside too

4. carved "seaside"
trust me, i've already washed this couple of times already! i'll be hanging this in my bathroom after painting, maybe :)

so yeah, everything you see here were all drenched with (rain)water that night... my mom was really annoyed cos she said i brought home trash. LOL
