hunger games themed party

so last weekend we decided to turn my sister's simple dinner party into a Hunger Games themed birthday :) no, we're not die-hard fans of the said book series, its just that the whole theme is so inspiring to set up :)

the supposedly poison berries as one of our desserts

some print outs i found online :)
another rustic, dessert creation by my dear pastry-chef friend made for the event - flourless chocolate cake with fresh strawberries :)

Update: My Bedroom

so it's the New Year! and I changed my bedroom theme to a more contemporary + eclectic mood - from its usual shabby chic theme. my inspiration this time is - Twiggy and the British flag (as seen from my previous post :) since i promised to at least finish my room after graduation (as a gift to myself) and i'm now 95% satisfied :)
just added a bit of furniture like this shelf, since my books/magazine are starting to pile up like crazy! and also moved this really lovely chair (i got from my aunt & had reupholstered), since i haven't given it any good justice beside my bed :)
some furniture details: (1) coffee table (2) office side desk (3) rocking stool
less pinwheels this time :) lucky to have scored these metal frames and rustic metal C (for my first name) at some local store.

along with these other things that are DIY - potential. (1) for a lamp (2) wooden horse - as a bookend or lamp base if my mood strucks (3) cardboard book/storage
 the finished lamps :)

new furniture: storage for my printer and office stuff :)
left: i edited my dividers and customized a cork board and magnetic chalk board.
new furniture: bench with canvass cushion and baskets. i really want to print a British flag on this canvass, but im still figuring out ways how to :) also, the fillings on this cushion are actually the bean balls i recycled from our exhibit - recycle much, and sorry for the crappy styling (ie. bench cushion, messy table, etc) in this photo :)

and oh, my room will be one of the bedrooms featured in Real Living's March 2012 issue :) #excited! i wasn't really renovating my room for show, it started as a stress-buster from too much plates and sleepless nights, so i'm really glad that people come up to me and ask if they could feature mine in publication *beams* thank you! :)

with the creative team of Real Living Magazine :)

have a Blessed week everyone :)

Chinese Wedding Reception Area

my cousin & cousin-in-law arranged this setting for our friend's wedding reception/waiting area. i love how they mixed elegance through porcelain with the free-spirited flowers and craft papers.
the antique dresser/console is from the bride's home.
dimsum and takeaways anyone? :)

pre-nup pictures of the couples
Suy folded each and every fortune cookie for the guests to pick during registration. Some revealed prizes :) There's also a crossword puzzle for guests to fill up while waiting for the event to start, and of course, colorful pencils :)
we just love styling for events & parties :)

Oasis along Edsa

hmmm... was supposed to go to Pampanga today and check out the supplier, but due to the awful weather, i was stuck in Manila. What to do? Well, I went to this place (that had intrigued me for some time now) every time I pass by Edsa - the Manila Seedling.
it was quite a sanctuary actually... and my curiosity never failed me :) i was a bit surprised why i never tried visiting this place before. I thought Dangwa was the place to be, but this, by far is at par if you're looking for planted stuff... :) that I wished i had a green thumb too, but *ohwell* i only took pictures of the florals, but the place really looked much like a forest... something i never really thought existed along Edsa :)

i was also surprised to have met there one famous florist my cousin hired at their wedding, Henry Pascual, and he kind of taught me where to get the other things i was looking for :) such convenience :)

Table Setting

The Requirement.

1. Pick a client (made-up client is okay)

2. Choose  an Event and Location where the event will be held.
3. Arrange a Table Setting based on the client's profile, status, etc.

The Result.
"Our Love is like a Tree"

Client: Newly-wed couples celebrating their 1st anniversary.
The couples are high school sweethearts :)

Location: The couple have an old family home in Batangas,
the setting was arranged under a tree, where the husband also proposed to his then girlfriend.

Theme: Rustic Shabby chic. Casual yet formal.

I was lucky enough to have my friend lend me her shabby chic plates and utensils. She graduated culinary, so she had some kind of a collection herself too :)

We added a white charger for contrast.

The Details..
Color Scheme: Yellow, Purple and Pink :)

(one of the pictures floating on the ceiling, together with colorful, paper pinwheels)
since we're limited to the school-tables in our school,
we covered it up with this natural wood, Oak sheets to create that rustic effect.
Then layered the table with natural sinamay? fabric (i forgot what's it called :)
instead of using cotton/other table cloth to allow a focal point at the center.

Most of the items we used here are from my room :)
It's quite fun to see them come in handy!

Each plate has a hand written love letter placed on top of the table napkin.

 name card for wife.
name card for husband.
